One of my biggest business goals is to create accessible solutions for organisations to better support people with menopause in the workplace – so it’s been very special to bring a brand new course to the Adam Smith Business School, at the University of Glasgow.
The Keeping It Real Menopause Programme from Hold the Space was designed in collaboration with Kirstin Purdie of Kindred, and it was a joy to run it for the first time this month with such a great cohort.
The course covers all aspects of the menopause journey from health and nutrition to holistic wellbeing, sources of support, and so much more.
As a certified menopause coach, I guide attendees through different modules to deepen their knowledge and understanding of the subject.
We spend time discovering which choices are available, how to best support those who experience menopause, and how individuals can empower themselves on their own menopause journey.
The course culminates in an opportunity for attendees to offer direct feedback to their company about the tangible support they would like to see in their workplaces.
The School’s investment in this course directly supports the Athena SWAN Charter, encouraging the advancement of gender equality in Higher Education. A massive thank you is due to Kirsteen Daly for her commitment to bringing this course to the wider team.
In Kirsteen’s own words: “As an Athena SWAN Champion, it was important to facilitate the introduction of the “Keeping it Real Menopause Course” within the Adam Smith Business School.
Completing this course has been so beneficial and enlightening in so many ways.
I feel I am now educated with the tools and resources to support myself and colleagues as well as friends and family … by continuing the conversation and educating ourselves we can empower females to embrace the “second spring” as a positive life stage.”
