In 2015, I started my own journey as an executive coach – and have loved every minute of it since. Last year I embarked on a new chapter in that journey, and moved to work full-time in my own company, Hold the Space – a place where we help ignite growth for individuals and businesses alike.
During those eight years of coaching, I worked with many women of menopausal age. Over and over again, I saw a desperate lack of support and understanding in this space.
Brilliant, talented women were suddenly questioning themselves, and their abilities, suffering from a sudden and scary lack of confidence due to their experience of the menopause.
Blending my passion for supporting these women with my executive coaching practice, I became a qualified and Certified Menopause Support Coach, aiming to address that lack of support with practical advice and guidance.
Just one year later, that knowledge has become something truly tangible and I am genuinely delighted to be able to announce that my course “The Menopause: Translated”, has received Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Accreditation from The CPD Certification Service.
CPD Accreditation is internationally recognised and sets a benchmark of credibility and authenticity.
Around the world, participants in a CPD recognised programme can rest assured that the learning value of that course has been rigorously scrutinised to meet an exemplary standard.
As statistics show that roughly 10% of people who go through the menopause will leave their job due to their experience – equivalent to more than a million people in 2022 alone – menopause education could not be more urgently needed.
The Menopause: Translated is specifically designed to help companies support and retain talent through menopause coaching and training that enables employees to advocate for their own needs.
The third menopause-focused course from a Scottish provider to achieve this status, this work would not be here without the trail-blazing Adele Johnston, who enabled me to become a Certified Menopause Coach.
A big thank you is also due to Kirstin Purdie, who co-created the pilot programme, “Keeping it Real”, and who has been a continual source of encouragement and inspiration to me.
There’s no doubt that this is complex and often uncomfortable subject, but having The Menopause: Translated accredited by CPD is a clear step forward to a workforce where people are supported throughout the menopause, and beyond.
